Private Lucaden media inspector

Media Codec Compatibility Checker

Identify a file's real container and codecs, then ask the current browser whether it reports native playback support.

Free to use MediaInfo WebAssembly reads the selected file in local chunks. The file and extracted metadata are not uploaded to Lucaden.

How it works

Complete the job in three clear steps

  1. Choose a media file from this device.
  2. Run the local MediaInfo inspection and review the detected streams.
  3. Copy or download the JSON report before closing the page.

Important

Check the result before relying on it

Keep an untouched copy of important source files. Browser processing depends on available device memory, and you should inspect every downloaded result before deleting the original.

Practical details

What this Lucaden tool does

Lucaden combines MediaInfo's stream detection with the browser's canPlayType result. The answer applies to this browser and device, not every player or platform.

The same local analyzer powers each focused route, while the workspace highlights the fields relevant to that task.

Included capabilities

  • Real container inspection
  • Video and audio codec detection
  • Current-browser playback query
  • Compatibility cautions

Useful for

  • Prepare web video
  • Choose MP4 or WebM
  • Debug an unsupported upload
  • Check a client device

Questions

About this tool

Is a Probably result a guarantee?

No. Browser APIs do not test every profile, level, hardware decoder, damaged frame, or destination platform.

Why can a file fail even when its extension looks right?

Containers can hold codecs or profiles the browser does not support, and extensions can be renamed without changing the file.
