How it works

Complete the job in three clear steps

  1. Choose a ZIP archive up to 200 MB.
  2. Review normalized paths, declared sizes, safety warnings, and optional text previews.
  3. Download individual files, a selected safe subset, or the archive inventory.

Important

Check the result before relying on it

Keep an untouched copy of important source files. Browser processing depends on available device memory, and you should inspect every downloaded result before deleting the original.

Practical details

What this Lucaden tool does

This focused extractor opens standard ZIP archives locally and expands only the entry you explicitly preview or download.

Lucaden normalizes relative paths, reports any changed unsafe names, limits declared expansion, and avoids the old pattern of inflating every file immediately after selection.

Included capabilities

  • Lazy per-entry extraction
  • Path traversal normalization
  • ZIP-bomb size guards
  • Text and image preview
  • Individual and selected-subset downloads

Useful for

  • Open a downloaded ZIP
  • Recover one document
  • Review an archive safely
  • Extract a selected subset

Questions

About this tool

Does opening a ZIP run its files?

No. Lucaden treats entries as data and never executes them. Still scan unfamiliar downloads before opening them in another application.

Why can an archive be rejected?

Encrypted, damaged, very large, high-entry-count, or suspiciously expanded archives are rejected to reduce memory exhaustion and ZIP-bomb risk.
