How it works

Complete the job in three clear steps

  1. Choose a video file with audio from your device.
  2. Set the timing or output options and create an MP3 audio file.
  3. Preview and download the result before closing the page.

Important

Check the result before relying on it

Keep an untouched copy of important source files. Browser processing depends on available device memory, and you should inspect every downloaded result before deleting the original.

Practical details

What this Lucaden tool does

FFmpeg decodes the source audio, removes video streams, and encodes a widely compatible MP3. Choose a quality preset for speech, everyday listening, or higher-fidelity music.

Lucaden writes the source into FFmpeg's temporary in-browser file system, creates the output, then removes both temporary files. The source media is not uploaded to Lucaden.

Included capabilities

  • MP4, WebM, MOV, and other decoded inputs
  • Three MP3 quality presets
  • No video data in output
  • Local audio preview

Useful for

  • Save interview audio
  • Extract a lecture track
  • Create a podcast draft
  • Listen without the video

Questions

About this tool

Will this improve audio quality?

No. Re-encoding cannot restore detail missing from the source.

Why can conversion take time?

The browser downloads FFmpeg once and then decodes and encodes the media using your device CPU.
