How it works

Complete the job in three clear steps

  1. Choose or paste a VTT file or pasted WebVTT text.
  2. Review the timing and create an SRT file.
  3. Preview or download the result before closing the page.

Important

Check the result before relying on it

Keep an untouched copy of important source files. Browser processing depends on available device memory, and you should inspect every downloaded result before deleting the original.

Practical details

What this Lucaden tool does

Convert a WebVTT caption track into numbered SubRip SRT cues locally.

The parser normalizes SubRip and WebVTT cues into millisecond timestamps. Lucaden then serializes a new file instead of modifying the original.

Included capabilities

  • WebVTT parsing
  • Sequential SRT numbering
  • Multiline cue preservation
  • Comma-based millisecond timestamps

Useful for

  • Import captions into an editor
  • Prepare a compatible subtitle file
  • Convert browser captions for desktop software
  • Normalize downloaded transcripts

Questions

About this tool

Are WebVTT STYLE and NOTE blocks copied?

No. They are metadata rather than caption text and are intentionally omitted from the SRT result.

Will cue identifiers be preserved?

The SRT output is renumbered sequentially for broad compatibility.
