How it works

Complete the job in three clear steps

  1. Add text and a strong passphrase to the private browser workspace.
  2. Choose the available settings and create a portable versioned encrypted package.
  3. Review the result, then copy or download it before leaving the page.

Important

Check the result before relying on it

Use these utilities for development, learning, and local checks. Do not treat a browser tool as a replacement for audited identity systems, password managers, production key management, or server-side authentication controls.

Practical details

What this Lucaden tool does

The tool derives a 256-bit key with PBKDF2-SHA-256 and a fresh random salt, then encrypts with authenticated AES-GCM and a random initialization vector. The output packages the parameters as Base64 JSON so it can be decrypted by this tool later.

Lucaden performs this task in the browser so the source stays under your control. The result is created only after you request it, and nothing is saved to a Lucaden account by this tool.

Included capabilities

  • AES-256-GCM authenticated encryption
  • PBKDF2 password derivation
  • Fresh salt and IV per encryption
  • Versioned portable output

Useful for

  • Protect a short note before storage
  • Test Web Crypto interoperability
  • Exchange encrypted noncritical text
  • Learn authenticated-encryption structure

Questions

About this tool

Can Lucaden recover a forgotten passphrase?

No. The passphrase and derived key are never sent or stored, so losing it makes the encrypted text unrecoverable.

Should this replace an audited password manager?

No. Use an established password manager or encrypted storage product for important secrets and long-term key management.
