How it works

Complete the job in three clear steps

  1. Choose one JPG, PNG, or BMP image from this device.
  2. Adjust the effect settings and create a blurred PNG with the local Jimp runtime.
  3. Compare the result with the original, then download the new PNG copy.

Important

Check the result before relying on it

Keep an untouched copy of important source files. Browser processing depends on available device memory, and you should inspect every downloaded result before deleting the original.

Practical details

What this Lucaden tool does

Apply a fast local blur from one to twenty pixels to a JPG, PNG, or BMP image and export the result as PNG.

Ordinary blur is not secure redaction: underlying information may remain recoverable or inferable. Use irreversible opaque redaction for confidential content.

Lucaden adds a focused workflow, conservative memory limits, before-and-after preview, privacy checks, and exact attribution.

Included capabilities

  • 1–20 pixel blur radius
  • Fast Jimp blur algorithm
  • No remote image request
  • Lossless PNG export

Useful for

  • Soften a background
  • Reduce distracting detail
  • Create a design backdrop
  • Obscure non-sensitive visual texture

Questions

About this tool

Does Lucaden upload the image?

No. Browser Canvas decodes and exports the image in memory, while the pinned Jimp effect modules change its pixels locally.

What should I verify?

Ordinary blur is not secure redaction: underlying information may remain recoverable or inferable. Use irreversible opaque redaction for confidential content.

Which open-source project powers this tool?

Jimp 1.6.1 (MIT) performs the deterministic pixel operation; the browser's Canvas API performs PNG export. The upstream project retains its name, copyright, and license.
