This English-to-French workflow extracts text page by page, translates bounded passages with a dedicated Marian model, and builds a new PDF that keeps source-page boundaries visible.

The output is intentionally text-first. That makes its limitations auditable and avoids falsely presenting machine-reconstructed formatting as an exact copy of the source document.

About this tool

Does this preserve the original PDF layout?

No. It creates a clean, page-separated translated document for review. PDF drawing instructions, columns, fonts, forms, images, links, and exact visual placement are not reconstructed.

Can it translate a scanned PDF?

Not directly. A scan may contain only images and no selectable text. Run searchable PDF OCR first, then translate the OCR result.

Is the document uploaded?

No. PDF extraction, translation inference, and new PDF creation happen in this browser. Only version-pinned public model/runtime files are downloaded.

Can I rely on it for legal or certified translation?

No. Machine translation can miss context and terminology. Review important output with a qualified human translator.
